Day 1> Chennai : On arrival at Chennai international airport meet our representative and will leave the hotel and take room and rest for some time. We will go to Parthasarathy Temple which was built in the 8th century, the pillar in this temple is a very attractive part of this temple then we will go to Kapaleeshwar Temple, this temple was built in the 7th century, the temple was made during Vijayanagar rule. After the visit, we will go to the hotel and stay overnight..
Day 2> Kancheepuram : At morning after having tea we would go to our next destination Kancheepuram, on reaching there we will take room after taking some rest we will go to Sri Kailasanathartemple, the temple was constructed during the 7th century by the Pallavas kings.Ekambareshwar temple, the painting of Lord Ekambaranatharis the main high light in the temple. The religious belief, the picture of is painted by the Goddess Parvathi who had done severe penance to achieve him. Another highlight in this temple is 3500 years old mango tree outside the temple. Kanchi Kamakshi Temple is famous for its beautiful sculptures painted pictures drawing the attention of foreigners visiting the temple.Varadaraja Temple was built in 10th century, the temple is located on the top of the Hastigiri Hill. Kamakshi Amman Temple is believed to built ahead of the 7th century by the Pallavas Kings and was reconstructed in the 14th century by the Chola Kings. After the visit, we will go to the hotel and stay for the night
Day 3> Mahabalipuram : At morning we will wake up and have tea and go to our next destination Mahabalipuram.This place is famous for the bygone era and rich history it was the second capital of Gupta empire.The shore temples of Mahabalipuram and its architecture provides evidence of glorious past and history of Two thousand years and is a significant pilgrimage destination. Many of the monuments here are regarded as UNESCO world heritage site.The Ganesh Ratha is one of the ancient Architectures in Mahabalipuram. Vedagrishwara Temple is famous for its Architectural Marvel and other famous places to visit are mandapams which are cut out from stone. Mandapams are cut out from stone and are remarkable to watch. Five Rathas(chariots) are unique to watch because of its peculiar to watch because of its architecture and shape the 5 chariots are a representation of 5 Pandavas each of them was protagonists of Mahabharata war, Other places to go are SEA SHELL MUSEUM and the SCULPTURE MUSEUM. Pongal, the most important festival of the Tamils, is celebrated in mid-January every year. Mahabalipuram Dance Festival is an occasion for the dance lovers to witness the performances of the artists from all parts of India. The festival is celebrated in the month of January/February every year. Day 4> Pondicherry : Pondicherry is the most beautiful of all places that are to be visited by beach lovers and tourists, the landscape is surrounded by creeks and Backwaters.This place came into prominence during the colonial era, when the French came and built their trading company in India.The place has left many of its French influences in the city planning and Architecture, food and artistic and lingual also. The beach is budget oriented in south India and it is cheaper to access accommodation here than resorts in rest of the country. Day 5> Tanjore : The very next day we continue the pilgrimage in City of temple pilgrimage called Thanjavur, situated in Thanjavur District of Tamil Nadu, City is a historical place and the ruling seat of Chola empire between 11th and 14th century.it takes 6 hours to travel from Pondicherry to Tanjavur.Thanjavur has many temples that were famed throughout India during its prime. The temples here are complex in architecture and many cultural events happen here during months of Maha sivarathri(Feb/Mar), Navarathri(Sep/Oct) and the Rajarajan Festival(Nov/Dec) are celebrated. Places to visit in Tanjore: Brihadeeswarar Temple is the biggest temple in the city with a 12 foot Siva linga, the temple is 216 foot high and the temple complex is 33,000 sq feet ,Thanjavur Palace is also known as Maratha Palace Nayak Palace its now a Royal Museum,Thiruvarur also Known as Thyagaraja Swamy Temple, Thiruvaiyaru is a Siva temple on the banks of Kaveri river., Shiva Ganga Garden, Guru Alangudi Temple, Vellai Puliar Temple, Alangudi Temple, Vijaynagar Fort.
Day 6> Madurai : The next day we travel to Madurai the city of temples(3 hours travel from Tanjore), Madurai is known as the temple city of South India, It is known as ancient cities known for its architectural splendor of its numerous religious places, The beautiful scriptures of its temples are carved intricately and is of ancient era. Places to visit in Madurai: Alastair Koil is a temple dedicated to Lord Vishnu, Meenakshi Temple is the temple of Dravidian Architecture is a great center of activity the temple is dedicated to Goddess Meenakshi and Lord Sundareswarer, Thirupparankundram Temple is dedicated to Lord Subramaniam, Koodal Azhaar Temple a vaishnavite temple this temple finds mention in Sangam literature, Pazhamudhirsolai temple.
Day 7> Rameshwaram : Next day the at morning we leave for Rameshwaram (3hours from Madurai) which finds its origin to the ancient age and is one of the must visit pilgrimage center in India. Rameshwaram is considered a sacred place for the Hindus. This is also the place where Rama worshipped Lord Shiva to wash away the sin of killing Ravana. Rameshwaram is the Banaras of south India. Places to visit in Rameshwaram: Ramanathaswamy Temple This famous temple is situated close to the sea on the Rameshwaram Island. Agnitheertham is a few meters from Ramanathaswamy temple, Spot believed to be where Lord Ram worshipped Shiva. Dhanushakodi is located at an eastern end of the island where the distance of 8 km from Rameshwaram famous of the mythological bridge built from India to Sri Lanka by Ram.
Day 8> Kanyakumari : Early morning we leave for Kanyakumari it takes nearly 5 hours to travel from Rameshwaram to Kanyakumari is the southern tip of Indian subcontinent the sunset is special because of the of three seas, the Bay of Bengal, the Indian Ocean, and Arabian sea meet in the point. And of the big statue of Swami Vivekananda which is made of rock in a middle of the sea. From there we will leave to our next destination Kovalam. Kanyakumari Sightseeing Places: Temple Of God Bhagavathi, Swami Vivekananda Rock Memorial, The Temple at Sundaram, Kumari Amman Temple, Naqgaraja Temple at Nagercoil, Tirunelveli, Sankaranainarkoil,Subramanya Temple in Tiruchendur.
Day 9> Kovalam visit : Next Morning after Kanyakumari we travel to the beautiful beaches of Kovalam.We will go to the hotel at Kovalam take some rest and will first visit Thiruvallam Parasurama Swami Temple which is located on the bank of the Karamana river. This is the only Temple that is devoted to Lord Parasurama in whole India. Vizhinjam Rock Cut Caves is about 17 km from Trivandrum city. The caves in the village of Vizhinjam has sculptures which are cut out of rocks. Padmanabhaswamy Temple is located Anantha city which is 16 km from Kovalam. The first view you get there is Kalvilakk which is made of rock and contain oil, it is illuminated by burning a wick and keep to be glowing always.AatukalBhagavati Temple is only 3km away from Padmanabhaswamy Temple.
